Hands, tools and half-finished figures, from classes over the past few seasons.
You start with a sheet, a pencil and a few colours. Gohar teaches the way she paints – the pale washes first, the detail at the end, and no fear of the paper.
Watercolour and drawing at the long table, with the village as the subject.
You sit down with a piece, a brush and a tray of colours. Gohar shows you how paint behaves on fired clay – where it sinks in, where it sits on the surface – and then leaves you to work.
Paint a piece that is already made and fired, and take it home the same day.
Tell us the date and how many of you are coming. Because pieces need firing, say if you have a deadline – a birthday, a trip home – and we will plan around it.
Clay in its raw state — rolled, pinched, cut and joined. You leave having made a figure, a village house or a fir tree of your own, and it comes back to you fired a few days later.
Gohar starts by rolling out a slab and showing what clay will and will not do. From there you build: a house with a roof, a bird, a figure in national dress, a tree with birds in the branches. Pieces dry for several days and then go into the kiln in the workshop.
